THE racing fashion police were out in force today, with country music singer Amber Lawrence refused entry to Royal Randwick's members' area for failing to meet the required sartorial standard.
The multiple Golden Guitar-winning singer was turned away from the racecourse after her black laser-cut playsuit was deemed 'inappropriate'.
"I went to walk through the gates and they told me I wasn't allowed to wear a playsuit," Lawrence told Confidential.
"They said, 'You have stockings on which is great, but you just can't wear a playsuit so we can't let you in'.
"I didn't look up the dress rules but I thought I looked respectable and was ready for a great day."

Having gone to so much effort to pull together what she thought was a winning look, her friend suggested she simply cut the seam down the middle, turning her playsuit into a dress — which would have passed the dress code, ironically.
However the 36-year-old decided to trek home and change. "I didn't argue ... I just jumped on a bus to go home and grab a new dress," she said.
"I opted for a very safe white dress.
"Rules are rules, I am not complaining, it's OK.
"Fortunately they let me back in. I think I will Google the dress code next time."
The ATC dress code stipulates shoulders and midriffs must be covered and jumpsuits — or shorts — are not permitted.
"Members' dress regulations stipulate that shorts are not allowed," an ATC spokesman said. "Also no crop tops. Covered shoulders and closed-toe heels are encouraged."
Bec Hewitt was criticised in 2006 for flouting the rules by wearing shorts and baring her midriff at Melbourne, however her star status meant she got away with it.
