A MAN minding his dad's convenience store shot dead a robber armed with a shotgun, who had threatened his sister at gunpoint.
"I wanted to make the threat go away," Usman Seth, 20, who often works at the store, told the Houston Chronicle.
The convenience store in the south east of Houston, Texas, had been targeted before by armed robbers which Seth's father, also called Seth, opened three years ago after the family moved from New York.

The armed masked robber, who had been in the store 30 minutes earlier, threatened Seth's sister at the cash register with his shotgun. Seth's father gave him a 9 mm Smith & Wesson handgun.
"He was saying, 'I'm going to kill you if you move,' said Seth. "I didn't have any other option for protecting my family, so I starting shooting at him.
"My family — their lives — were in my hands. I had to protect them."
He shot the robber in the leg, yet the masked criminal blasted his shotgun at him.
"He kept threatening us," Seth told the Houston Chronicle.
The armed robber moved towards the back of the store as Seth opened fire again. Seth shot repeatedly, hitting him more than once.
"I kept warning him, drop your gun, but he was not listening, he tried to shoot us and I had to shoot back," Seth told KHOU.

When Houston police arrived, the robber was dead. Police removed his mask and the family realised he had been in the store 30 minutes before.
Seth said customers were in shock and his family feel lucky to be alive.
He said the robber's brother came into the store afterwards and threatened to kill the family.
"We are continuously getting threats from them," said Seth's 59-year-old father.
Seth said it had been the fourth time the family has been robbed in the past three years.
"I'm ready for them, if they try that stupid thing again," said Seth.
Police questioned Seth and said the case will be handed over to a grand jury.
