When this man jumped into a lake, his loyal best friend rushed straight in after him in an act of bravery no person could match.

To be fair, the dog had the mistaken impression his owner was in strife, but that makes it all the more amazing.

The pooch howls, runs to the water's edge and dives in without a moment of hesitation.

Once he makes it out towards his owner, he snaps at another dog in the way of his rescue mission.

The man is grateful for the pup's effort but he's OK folks - this was a false alarm.
