MY Kitchen Rules contestants Annie and Jason have jumped to the defence of villains Chloe and Kelly after being eliminated from the cooking show tonight — describing them as "beautiful girls".

The pair, nicknamed Mr and Mrs Cheese, was sent home after losing to gatecrashers Carly and Tresne in a three-course showdown.

Annie and Jason flamed out with 37 out of 60 compared to Carly and Tresne's 39 out of 60 from judges Pete Evans, Manu Fieldel, Karen Martini, Liz Ellis, Guy Grossi and Colin Fassnidge.

The biggest surprise came after the competition with Annie and Jason revealing their best friends on the show was Chloe and Kelly.

Annie and Jason say the West Australian girls, who have been savaged on social media for their bitchy antics, are misunderstood by Aussie TV viewers.

"Chloe and Kelly are our closest friends on My Kitchen Rules," Annie says.

"They are beautiful girls."

Jason believes the editing on Seven's show has painted an unflattering — and inaccurate — portrait of the girls.

"Chloe and Kelly are very honest people and they are very opinionated as well," Jason says. "While we probably see everything that they say in context, there is only so much they can show on TV.

"I'm confident enough that as the show goes along they (viewers) will get to see the real side of the girls."

Annie and Jason plated up an entree of twice cooked gruyere souffle with a walnut, pear and rocket salad.

Carly and Tresne's entree was prawn and ricotta stuffed zucchini flowers with lime mayonnaise.

Feildel and Grossi felt the souffle needed a sauce.

Evans said the zucchini flowers needed more mayonnaise and Grossi said the zucchini flower batter should have been lighter.

Annie and Jason chose a main of beef wellington with potato gratin with red wine sauce.

Carly and Tresne served up beef cheeks in red wine with cheesy polenta and brussels sprouts salad.

Annie and Jason bickered as the tension heated up with their beef wellington going into the oven too late to get the meat perfectly cooked.

The judges criticised the beef wellington for being too rare and Feildel also had issues with the pastry.

"They (Annie and Jason) knew it needed another 10 minutes in the oven," Feildel said.

The beef cheeks won universal praise with Fassnidge saying, "I couldn't cook it better myself", but the polenta and salad were savaged.

Annie and Jason finished off with crème caramel with spun sugar and edible flowers.

Carly and Tresne baked up a strawberry shortcake stack.

Many of the crème caramels were overcooked. The judges thought the shortcake stack was too small to be classified as a dessert.

In the end, the difference between winning and losing came down to the scores from Martini and Fassnidge.

Both gave Carly and Tresne one point more than their competitors. All the other judges scored teams equally.

"There were a couple of crucial decisions that we made on the night that we've regretted since," Jason says.

"Not getting a start on our main during entree time really hurt us. The other thing was leaving the crème caramels in the oven too long."

Annie and Jason have returned to the Hunter Valley in New South Wales pleased to have showcased cooking with cheese to the Australian public.

"We're not going home disappointed," Jason says.

"We were going up against two really good cooks in Carly and Tresne. We were able to showcase our cooking with cheese skills. I'm proud."
